Life is full of emotions, challenges, and trials. As difficult as it may be, light and darkness will always coexist—one cannot exist without the other. No matter the situation you face, always let your light shine through.

In this painting, I chose a surreal still life as my subject to challenge myself with proportions and perspective. Each element carries deep symbolism. The teacup represents peace and healing, a reminder of the common practice of drinking hot water with lemon and honey to soothe illness. The birds symbolize flight and freedom, while the bee represents life—drawing from the well-known metaphor of "the birds and the bees," often used to teach about creation and birth.

The pocket watch signifies time—our greatest strength but also a potential weakness if not managed wisely. The rose, the blown out candle in the wine glass and the vase embody beauty and the appreciation of life's small details. The elegant piece of furniture represents both beauty and structure.

Although this still life stands alone in the painting, a storm brews at the edges. However, the darkness does not overtake the beauty—it merely lingers around it. Light will always prevail over darkness.

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." – John 1:5
