The meaning of this painting traces back to a pivotal moment during a wilderness hike several years ago. Straying from the designated trail, I found myself disoriented in the vast expanse of Dome Land Wilderness. The wilderness, unforgiving and treacherous, instilled a sense of fear as I contemplated spending the night alone, unprepared for survival. It was a sobering experience, highlighting the inherent dangers of the untamed wilderness. Fortunately, my grandfather emerged, retracing my steps with an unwavering sense of direction. His profound knowledge of the terrain proved instrumental in my rescue. Although he has since passed, I immortalized his protective spirit in the form of an owl, adorned with a majestic crown of king cardinal feathers symbolizing the journey to safety and the enduring guidance of a guardian.
